Lucia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health and Health Behavior at the University at Buffalo's School of Public Health and Health Professions. As Director of the Community Health Interventions Lab, Lucia works with community and small business partners to develop and test sustainable interventions to increase access to healthy, local and affordable food. She has expertise in evaluating community-based interventions to increase access to healthy food in lower-income and underserved communities. In addition to her research, Dr. Leone is involved in social entrepreneurship focused on healthy food access. In 2009, she co-founded a nonprofit organization, Community Nutrition Partnership, which ran the original Veggie Van mobile market in North Carolina. In 2015, she and her husband started a small business called FreshFix which offers delivery of fresh, locally grown produce and other local artisan products to homes and offices in Western New York. |
